Just a quick note to let you know: the emoji list for 2018 was announced today by Unicode.
After a year in various draft stages, the final set includes popular additions such as redheads, curly hair, a cupcake, softball, lacrosse, and emojis to represent knitting, sewing, and more. Today we're very happy to be showing all our sample images for the first time.
Each year we create these in an Apple-like style to show how we think the new emojis could look when on our phones. Thanks to the talented Joshua Jones (aka mindfad who is the person behind the pixels.
In total 157 new emojis are on the list for Emoji 11.0 and these will come to phones later in the year.

It's a confusing time to be writing this right now, as Apple seems to be rejecting some apps for using emojis that weren't entered by users, but not others. I'm discussing this on the latest episode of Connected #179 on Relay FM which is likely to be published within 24h of this email going out.
📵 Farewell to HTC Emojis
After several years without updates, it appears that HTC's emoji font might be at end of life. New emojis on HTC Sense 9 (the latest release) are provided entirely from Google's Noto Color Emoji font. No changes to the HTC font since 2016. Related: Brian Brasher, the designer of the original HTC emoji font, also designed Facebook's first emoji set.

Samsung's version of the drooling face emoji certainly is more "oops" than the "awwww, yeahhhhh" of all the other vendors. Changing soon, so Jessica won't run into these issues in future. If her Samsung ever gets an update.
